Prima întâlnire cu plajele Cambodgiei / First meeting with the beaches of Cambodia

Am plecat din Siem Reap mai bogată sufletește și fericită că am avut șansa să umblu prin locuri frumoase, de a căror existență nu știam înainte să ajung aici. Complexul arheologic de la Angkor Wat mi-a dezvăluit un chip al Cambodgiei total necunoscut mie. După multe zile în care nu ne-au stat picioarele deloc, obosiți să ne trezim la ore mici pentru a ajunge la cât mai multe obiective turistice, am așteptat cu emoția copilăriei momentul în care vom ajunge la mare 🙂 ne era dor de apă.

Pentru a parcurge distanța de la Siem Reap la Sihanoukville aveam două variante: cu bus-ul, dar asta presupunea 12-14 ore de drum, sau cu avionul și într-o oră sa fim la plajă. Pentru confort și pentru a câștiga timp, am ales varianta a doua, iar un avion cu elice ne-a dus la plajele însorite ale Cambodgiei.

I left Siem Reap richer and happier that I had the chance to walk through beautiful places I did not know before I came here. The archaeological complex of Angkor Wat has revealed a face of Cambodia totally unknown to me. After many days in which our feet did not stand, tired to wake up at early hours to reach as many tourist attractions as possible, we waited with the excitement of childhood the moment we reached the sea 🙂 we missed water.

To cross the distance from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville, we had two options: by bus, but this involved 12-14 hours of travel, or by plane and within an hour we would be at the beach. For comfort and time, we chose the second variant, and a propeller plane took us to the sunny beaches of Cambodia.

Orașul portuar Sihanoukville este cunoscut pentru plajele întinse cu nisip alb si fin și este înconjurat de insule exotice cu peisaje spectaculoase. Cele mai renumite plaje sunt Occheuteal, Otres – care se întinde pe o distanță de 4 km, Socha, Independence, Hawaii, Serendipity. Noi am ales să ne cazăm în Otres Beach 2, fiind o zonă cu o plajă albă superbă și mai puțin frecventată de turiștii zgomotoși.

Sihanoukville Harbor Town is known for its fine white sandy beaches and is surrounded by exotic islands with spectacular landscapes. The most famous beaches are Occheuteal, Otres – which has over 4 km, Socha, Independence, Hawaii, Serendipity. We chose to stroll in Otres Beach 2, being an area with a beautiful white beach and less frequented by noisy tourists.

Din micuțul aeroport din Sihanoukville am luat un taxi împreună cu ați doi turiști care mergeau în aceeași direcție cu noi. Am rămas surprinsă că majoritatea taxiurilor care așteptau în parcarea aeroportului erau mașini din gama de lux. Am plătit 10 USD și, când să mă instalez mai confortabil, am ajuns deja în fața complexului de bungalowuri, iar in scurt timp eram cu ochii pe piscina aflată la doi pași de intrarea în bungalow 🙂

From the little Sihanoukville airport we took a taxi along with two tourists walking in the same direction with us. I was surprised that the majority of taxis waiting in the airport parking were luxury cars. We paid $10, and when I was getting more comfortable we got to the bungalow complex, and soon we were watching the two-step away of the bungalow entrance pool 🙂

Ne-am cazat și am plecat imediat să ne împrietenim cu plaja și cu marea, care ne-au așteptat așa

We checked in and we immediately left to become friends with the beach and the sea that waited for us like this.

Și acum urma să ne aruncăm în valuri, pentru ca asta ne doream de mult timp, doar că eu, plecând de acasă doar cu un bagaj mic de mână, nu imi luasem costum de baie și am tot amânat cumpărarea lui până acum. Așa că următoarele ore le-am petrecut căutând să cumpăr unul, motiv pentru care am luat la rând toate micile magazine din zona Otres 2. Fără succes. Toate magazinele vindeau orice, mai puțin costume de baie, vânzătoarele  se uitau la mine mirate când le întrebam dacă au așa ceva. Și toată povestea se petrecea pe străduța paralelă cu plaja. Într-un final, am găsit unul într-un colț pe un raft. Inutil să mai spun ca nu m-a interesat prea tare ce mărime este 🙂 L-am cumpărat și chiar l-am purtat o săptămână:-)

Ne-am bucurat până seara târziu de apa caldă, de nisipul fin și de un apus spectaculos chiar acolo, pe plaja din fața bungalowului unde ne-am cazat.

And now we were going to throw ourselves into the waves, because that’s what we wanted for a long time, except that I, leaving home with only a small handbag, had not taken a bathing suit and I had postponed its purchase until now. So the next few hours I spent my time trying to buy one, which is why I took in all the small shops in the Otres 2 area. No success. All the shops were selling anything but bathing suits, the vendors looked at me strangely when I asked them if they had that. And the whole story was on the street parallel to the beach. Finally, I found one in a corner on a shelf. Needless to say I did not really care what the size is 🙂 I bought it and even wore it for a week 🙂

We enjoyed the warm water until late in the evening, the fine sand and a spectacular sunset right up there, on the beach in front of the bungalow where we stayed.

Chiar in momentul în care ne-am întors la bungalow și ne pregăteam să ne aruncăm în piscina din fața noastră, a început o ploaie caldă și intensă care le-a luat prin surprindere pe cele două doamne care se relaxau în piscină, dar și pe Bongo, motanul hazliu care se retrăsese pe barul terasei și cerșea puțină atenție 🙂

Just as we returned to the bungalow and were preparing to dive into the pool in front of us, a warm and intense rain began and took by surprise to the two ladies who were relaxing in the pool, but also Bongo, the funny tomcat who had retreated to the terrace bar and begged a little attention 🙂

Prima zi in Sihanoukville s-a încheiat cu o baie în ploaie in piscină. A doua zi a început aventura noastră prin junglele și insulele din împrejurimi, dar despre asta, data viitoare.

The first day in Sihanoukville ended with a bath in the pool, in the rain. The next day we started our adventure through the jungles and surrounding islands, but about that, next time. Until then, I hug you and I leave you with more pictures here.
